Europe completed their mission in the singles to win the 40th Ryder Cup 16½-11½ against the United States at Gleneagles. After the miracles and the 17th green shootouts, and all the gut-wobbling drama that is usually the staple of a Ryder Cup crescendo, it all ended uncharacteristically easily. Captain Paul McGinley's side led 10-6 going into the final day and reached the 14½ needed to win the Cup outright when Welsh rookie Jamie Donaldson beat Keegan Bradley 4&3. This was the Gimme In The Glen, Keegan Bradley conceding Jamie Donaldson's putt halfway down the 15th fairway to confirm the point that Europe needed, with almost half the matches still out on the course and almost half the course trying to get to that match. Still, as always, it was great to watch, with some magnificent shots. Roll on Chaska Minnesota 2016.
This time next week and the Ryder Cup starts all over again. The team captains have made their final picks and they're all raring to get under way. After Europe's dramatic fightback to win in Medinah two years ago, Tom Watson will be looking to inspire the USA to victory at Gleneagles. Tense, thrilling, fun, frenetic, sometimes controversial, always absorbing, the Ryder Cup throws up some of sport's most iconic and enduring memories. The biennial tussle between Europe and the USA has a huge back catalogue of classic moments. We all have our favourites. No one could have predicted what happened last year. I wonder what is on the cards for this year. If anyone wants to join us, we will have full coverage on at the Hua Hin Golf Centre, all welcome. We will have some special beer promotions on, so should be great.

Kan Air has started a twice weekly service between Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. Kan Air is a domestic airline currently based in Chiang Mai and operates chartered and scheduled services throughout the Northern region of Thailand. The main hub is Chiang Mai International Airport. This may well work out great for HHGT customers, as we can arrange a two night, two round package. Its a short 90 minute flight, but, Hua Hin airport is 15 minutes from anywhere in Central area, and at the other end, Chiang Mai airport is the same, around 15 minutes to town. We hope this flight lasts, as HH airport doesn't seem to be able to keep any schedules, going!
Thai cooking courses are becoming more and more popular right now. We guess it may have something to do with the amount of Thai restaurants opening up overseas, in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong etc. We have had a number of guests who have recently asked us to organise a class for them. The ingredients in your home countries can be bought relatively cheaply from any Asian supermarket, but putting them together in an edible fashion, well, that's the tricky bit. So, that's where the class comes in.
If you haven't been to the Intercontinental for Sunday Champagne Brunch, you really should treat yourself. It's absolutely amazing what Chef Patrick produces down by the beach. Every single dish is an experience and is done in such a way that there is very little wastage. His presentation is fabulous, and the tastes, they just take you all over the world. The whole atmosphere is simply perfect.
The Hilton has recently undergone some well deserved renovations, and we must say, they look very good, very fresh. Firstly, the old Milestone Bar has been completely changed, and is now called Deca Bar, but is still located in the lobby. The Lotus Sky Bar has had a total revamp also. There is dining inside and out, as well as just the bar service, inside and out. Both the outside venues have excellent views, and makes the sipping of cocktails very easy. They have also undergone some behind the scenes changes, new owners and a new management. Both seem to be taking things in their stride and doing very well. HHGT would like to wish the whole team the very best for the future
