Blue Canyon Country Club, Canyon Course

This is probably one of the best known courses in all of Thailand. Yoshikazu Kato designed this course and 3 years after it opened it hosted the 1994 Johnnie Walker Classic and since then it has been a venue for many professional competitions. Canyon Course lives up to its name but with water on 13 holes and nearly 100 bunkers and narrow fairways every aspect of your golf game will be challenged as would be expected of a true championship venue of its high acclaim.

The back 9 is considered the best and most difficult with the forbidding 221 yard 17th that forces many to use almost all they have in their bag, the 14th is another 3 par with an island green and the 600 yard 11th are three holes that are constantly highlighted.

Blue Canyon Country Club, Lakes Course

The lakes Course was the second course built at this famous resort. It has just undergone an extensive renovation by increasingly acclaimed Golf East and should be in pristine condition. It was designed originally by Yoshikazu Kato and was built around and through the water filled chasms that were the result of mining in days gone past. Mix in a few rubber tree plantations and the addition of the beautifully landscaped flowering trees and shrubs and it is a very unique and less difficult site than its companion course.

Laguna Phuket Golf Club

A Max Wexler and David Abell design that is friendly to all levels of play this course tips out at about 6600 yards and follows the lagoons that are a part of Bang Tao Bay and the Andaman Sea. The fact that long hitting is a necessity guarantees that placement and accuracy are the necessities to maneuver your way around the tropical coconut trees and the more than 100 bunkers strategically arranged throughout this layout. An island green on the short par 4 9th and the 612 yard 17th are a testament that you have to play this course and forget about the written word to see what it is all about.

Loch Palm Golf Club

These is a gem of a course designed by Max Wexler and with just over 6400 yards and a course slope rating of 130 you know there is much more to this course than just mileage. It is designed around a massive lagoon in the interior of 'Phuket. There are many dog-legs and only one measures over 400 yards some of the dog-legs are very accentuated forcing the finest players to be able to shape their shots if they are going to try to take advantage of this layout. The front 9 is nestled around the lake and thousands of palm trees and the back takes you on a roller coaster of elevation changes through the lush hills. This is an excellently maintained jewel.

Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort & Spa

Jack Nicklaus put on his swim-suit when he designed this course! Ask and you will receive! You are on the Andaman Sea looking at the ocean lap against the greens. You watch a fish jump in the ocean and your next hole heads towards the dense and lush jungles of the mountains that border this course. How about a double green? Let Jack make it as an island green? You got it and it measures nearly 30 yards by 100 yards. Water comes to play on nearly every hole and all but one of the 4's and 5's are dog-legs. Let's make it nearly 8000 yards, no quite as it is a reasonable 6800 with four sets of tees.

Phuket Country Club

Another beautiful and older course on the island of Phuket that was designed by the clever and imaginative Khun Sukitti Klangvisai. The Club encompasses 27 holes with a 9 hole newer Country Club Course that plays to a par 37 with three par 5's and a big slope rating of 140.

The "old course" where every hole provides something different and unusual may be highlighted by the 10th hole which is a par 5 and plays nearly 560 yards dog-legging itself around a lake. Some say you can almost reach the green if you choose to hit nearly perpendicular to the tee box, just make sure you have about nearly 300 yards of carry.

Thai Muang Beach Golf & Marina This golf course

This golf course sits right on the beach 40 miles north of Phuket and was hit hard by the tsunami but it was renovated rapidly and the Pete Dye design is famous for it's finishing three holes that play into what is common on a sea-side course, stiff winds. Sometimes two clubs is definitely not enough to overcome the late afternoon "breezes" that challenge the par 5, par 3, par 4 finish. It is all you would expect of a true beach-side course with large waste areas, deep bunkers, stiff winds in the afternoon, some lagoons and gentle rolling terrain.
