Alpine Golf & Sports Club

Alpine Golf is one of the finest courses in Thailand. This Ronald M. Garl design has hosted many professional tournaments including the highly prestigious Johnnie Walker Classic twice with Tiger Woods winning it in 2000. It is always immaculately maintained and its 7100 yard layout features lightening fast greens and hilly, undulating fairways which place a premium on shot positioning. The par 4's are unique in the fact that they have 3 of the 4 most difficult handicaps and also have 4 that are relatively short. This is a private members club and the chance to be able to play here could be the highlight of your golf trip to Thailand.
Bangkok Golf Club

This course in the heart of Bangkok is 27 holes with well maintained fairways and superb greens. The Par 5 9th has been rated as one of the best 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine. Chird Boonyaratanavej created a short 9 hole course which incorporates the designs of famous par 3s from around the world. Both courses are floodlit for night golf. The 2003 Volvo Masters of Asia was played here and even though the course is less than 7000 yards it is a challenge. Sometimes the biggest challenge of all is concentrating on your game, as there are literally thousands of different types of flora, a beautiful waterfall and an enormous variety of exotic birds throughout the course.
Green Valley Country Club

This is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course built in 1988 with his characteristic rolling fairways and undulating greens with many lakes and bunkers. The greens are very complex and require a bit of study to master. Four sets of tees and lengths from 7000 to 5550 yards allow all level of play with the final hole of 595 yards being one that you will remember more than the tame 395 starting hole. The abundance of man-made landscaping with many sugar palms and flowering trees, shrubs and plants makes this a lovely enclave in the big city.
Lake Wood Country Club

This is a very well maintained course with 3 contrasting 9 hole layouts, the Lake, the Wood and the most difficult, Rock all have a choice of 4 tee boxes and measure over 3500 yards each. Designer J. Michal Poellet incorporated an abundance of water as there are 26 lakes to accompany the over 100 bunkers. The fairways are wide and generally flat which allows some respite from these well named 9's. The par 3's are very challenging and when you find a par 4 that is not bunkered be assured it will be over 440 yards long. The beautiful landscaping is a constant complimented after a round is finished.
Lam Luk Ka Country Club

This Club has 36 holes of golf to accommodate all levels of play as Roger Packard created the East Course to put a premium on driving the ball long and accurately. The last hole, a par 5, will test the great players or punish them severely depending on their ability to take a risk and benefit with a justly deserved reward or face the consequences. The West Course is an excellent challenge and is somewhat shorter but still puts a high emphasis on course management which allows you some different options to take advantage of this impeccably maintained jewel. The greens are recognized as some of the best in the country and the fairways, when they are double cut, stand up to the same praise.
Muang Kaew Country Club

This redesigned course by Schmidt and Curley and with wide fairways will benefit some off-line tee shots but the difficult elevated greens will require well struck shots to master. The 13th can be lucky for some as many golfers stand a chance of reaching this fun hole after negotiating their blind tee shot. The next shot isn't blind but with water to carry all the way to the green if it doesn't splash down you'll consider 13 your lucky number. The final hole is another par 5 which many try to negotiate it in two shots also, just remember there is water here to catch anything right of the green.
Navatanee Golf Course

This Robert Trent Jones Jr course hosted the World Cup Of Golf in 1975 just two years after it opened. Jones returned in 1997 to refine and improve it and Golf Digest voted it the best course in the Kingdom thereafter. At 6900 yards this is not a course that puts a premium on long driving but as Jones has done so often makes you think and place yourself in the proper position to take full advantage of his layout. This course is extremely well maintained and lush and allows an enjoyable round of golf for the average golfer and places some real premiums on the low-handicappers playing off the back tees. This course has some of the best caddies in Thailand.
Pinehurst Golf & Country Club

This is a relatively flat course designed by Yoshihara Aihara and is relatively flat with ample amounts of water and bunkers to accent three sets of 9 holes. There is the Lake, Forest and Greenfield 9's that all play to different characteristics. The Lake is considered somewhat "American" in design, the Greenfield is very flat and the Forest is considered the most challenging. There are three sets of tees measuring from 6800 to 5400 yards and is considered very player friendly for mid to high handicap golfers.
Rose Garden Golf Course

This Visuth Junranont designed course was built in 1972 and is one of the oldest and most stylish in the Kingdom and has been rated in the top 50 in the world by many golf magazines. This superbly maintained layout with mature trees and shrubbery finds many people traveling here to play in the late winter just to enjoy the start of the stupendous blooms and over-all feeling of tranquility. The course is flat with tree-lined fairways and well bunkered greens. The par 5 holes are the most talked about as they average over 570 yards the 11th is a tricky double dog-leg.
Subhapruek Golf Club

This is truly Pete Dye in the Kingdom. Pete Dye wanted to leave his mark here in Thailand and he did it with this course in many ways. There is an island green par 3 for the 16th that is similar to the famous signature hole #17 at Sawgrass and it's not Pete Dye unless there are railroad-ties and hole #11 has a plethora. The diabolical Dye's 15th measures 612 yards. The 18th is similar to the 18th at Sawgrass and at 461 yards it is considered one of the best holes in the country. This course measures from 6800 to 5200 yards and is very player friendly for all levels of play as the higher handicap golfers receive good options to avoid the problems of the more difficult holes.
Suwan Golf & Country Club

This course is a Weeyos Design with 4 sets of tees measuring over 7100 to 5700 yards and was just completed in 2005. It has a hilly terrain with unique holes that incorporate water on virtually every one and it is surrounded by beautiful fruit orchards. The fairways are Paspalum and greens of SeaIsle 2000 and these surfaces are considered some of the best suited for this part of the world. The hilly and challenging terrain allows long hitters to benefit but accuracy will reflect a good score. This is a newer course that has received a lot of well deserved attention and compliments.
Thai Country Club

One of the best courses in Bangkok and a testing challenge, Denis Griffiths created a course that opulence is used to describe it and its surroundings. It measures from over 7100 to 5200 yards with 5 sets of tees, so it is player friendly if you find your niche. The course is managed by the world famous Peninsula Hotels so the service is unsurpassed here in the Kingdom and maybe the world. The front 9 has the long difficult par 3's with the 6th at 230 yards and the back 9 is known for its long 5 pars highlighted by the 600 yard 14th.
Thana City Golf & Country Club

This is a very well designed Greg Norman course that has hosted many professional events. It has wide fairways but incorporates water on most holes if you stray too far from the fairways. Accuracy is still the desired manner to attack from the Shark (back) tees as there are many different types of long holes. The wide fairways can be appreciated as there are two island greens to negotiate after you land on the friendly fairways. This course is heavily bunkered so you are left with the choice of trying to blast over them or be precise and play around and through them.
